In rail, we are delivering the €2.1 billion Ankara–İzmir High-Speed Railway: approximately 530km of electrified, double-track high-speed railway connecting Türkiye's capital with its third-largest city. Supported by UK Export Finance, it represents UKEF’s largest-ever sustainable civil infrastructure deal.

The project places the UK rail supply chain at the heart of its delivery, with a substantial commitment to UK content across materials, equipment and specialist services. Under a recent agreement, British Steel will manufacture 36,000 tonnes of rail in Scunthorpe, creating 23 skilled roles and enabling the plant to resume continuous rail production. We are also working with Voestalpine on turnouts, Mosdorfer on catenary components and JCB on plant and machinery, supported by a broader network of suppliers built over many years.
