Siemens Mobility is at the forefront of transforming rail travel and transport in Britain. With 5,500 dedicated UK employees, we design, build, and maintain cutting-edge rail solutions, from trains to vital infrastructure. Our commitment to innovation is evident across our three manufacturing sites: Chippenham (signalling, R&D), Ashby-de-la-Zouch (control systems), and Goole, where we manufacture trains, including London Underground's Piccadilly line fleet.
We proudly support the UK economy, collaborating with 1,860 UK-based suppliers and operating from 30 locations, including 13 train maintenance sites. Our trains make up almost quarter of the UK's passenger fleet.
Looking ahead, Goole will be home to the production of our revolutionary Desiro Verve battery trains, which offer an integrated, sustainable solution to replace aging diesel fleets for the new era of Great British Railways. By combining advanced battery bi-mode trains with discontinuous electrification and fast-charging capabilities, we provide a smart, scalable, and cost-effective alternative. This innovative approach could save the UK £3.5 billion in maintenance and operational costs over 35 years, delivering a low-carbon future for routes not fully electrified.
Siemens Mobility's significant investment of up to £340 million across the UK underscores our dedication to sustainable transport, technology, job creation, and economic growth.
ERG International UK is part of ERG International Group, an engineering, construction and project management contractor delivering major infrastructure since 1966. Founded in Türkiye, the Group operates through subsidiaries and affiliates in Türkiye, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Austria, Italy and Colombia, employing more than 9,000 people worldwide. We work across the entire infrastructure lifecycle, from planning, investment and financing through construction and long-term operation, with particular expertise in transport, power and water. In rail, we are delivering the €2.1 billion Ankara–İzmir High-Speed Railway: approximately 530km of electrified, double-track high-speed railway connecting Türkiye's capital with its third-largest city. Supported by UK Export Finance, it represents UKEF’s largest-ever sustainable civil infrastructure deal. The project places the UK rail supply chain at the heart of its delivery, with a substantial commitment to UK content across materials, equipment and specialist services. Under a recent agreement, British Steel will manufacture 36,000 tonnes of rail in Scunthorpe, creating 23 skilled roles and enabling the plant to resume continuous rail production. We are also working with Voestalpine on turnouts, Mosdorfer on catenary components and JCB on plant and machinery, supported by a broader network of suppliers built over many years. With 60 years of experience and over US$20 billion of projects delivered worldwide, ERG International Group combines capability with a long-term commitment to British industry. By placing UK expertise and manufacturing at the heart of international projects, we support skilled employment, strengthen export capability and help deliver safer and more sustainable transport infrastructure worldwide.
